Laser hair removal

DEPILACION_MEDICA_LÁSER

At Depilhome we have the revolutionary diode laser (Soprano® XL) allowing hair removal permanently, quickly and efficiently in any area of the body.

The new sweeping system that incorporates our technology distributes energy progressively, thus avoiding the risk of burns.
This system consists of the thermal destruction of the cells responsible for hair growth in an earlyphase of its growth cycle. Each follicle is independent of the rest and each one is in a different phase,
it is for this reason that several sessions are required to obtain optimal results.

Even so, the Soprano® XL diode laser requires less frequency than other hair removal methods such
as wax, tweezers, razors, etc; which translates into a long-term saving of time and money, and of
course comfort.

During the first 12 months will be performed between 4 and 6 treatments with a time interval of 10 weeks between each treatment. The hair growth of each person is different but on average 8 treatments are necessary to get rid out of the hairs.

It is important that the patient knows her real expectations in the laser hair removal treatment. For this, Depilhome, in a generalized way, offers you an unlimited number of free consultations, where your skin and hair type will be examined, to assess whether they are suitable for treatment or to recommend others if necessary. In this consultation, our specialist will inform you about the guidelines to follow during the treatment, the number of sessions necessary, as well as other aesthetic and beauty recommendations.

Am I a good candidate for laser hair removal?

All people who have darker pigment hair are good candidates who can expect an excellent result from laser hair removal.
Unfortunately, light hair as well as those grey ones that no longer contain melanin cannot absorb enough laser energy, which means that they will not be able to heat up to the optimal temperature that would be sufficient to destroy them.

How does a laser work?

By absorbing optical energy, the hair is heated all the way to the follicle and then destroyed. Since hair grows simultaneously in all three phases, of which only the first, ie anagen phase of growth contains the largest amount of melanin, the treatments need to be repeated several times. Most hairs from the treated area fall out within 2 to 3 weeks followed by a period of several weeks in which they do not grow. With each performed treatment, the number of fallen hairs increases, while the number of those that return decreases and they become weaker, softer and gentler.

Can I do laser treatment in the summer when my skin is tanned?

Thanks to advanced laser technology, it is possible to perform effective and safe treatments in summer when the skin is completely tanned. However, for added safety, we recommend avoiding direct sunlight or any other source of UVA rays for 48 hours before and after treatment.

How to prepare for treatment?

Because the melanin found at the root of the hair is needed for the laser to destroy it, facial hair should not be plucked for a minimum of 2 to 3 weeks, and from the body 3 to 4 weeks before going for laser hair removal. The treated area should be shaved the evening before, and on the day of the treatment itself, it is recommended not to apply creams, oils, lotions and similar cosmetic products as well as deodorant if the armpits are treated. Makeup on the face will not bother because it will be removed just before the treatment in the salon (and the client can reapply it straight after the treatment). What is important to emphasize is that two days before and two days after the treatment the treated areas should not be exposed to sauna, solarium and strong sun.

Can I go for laser hair removal treatment if I use medication?

There are certain medications that are photosensitive which means that its consumption in a combination with sun exposure can lead to reactions and they should not be taken 48 hours before laser treatment. For this reason, we ask the client for information on possible drug consumption.

Here are some of the commonly used drugs that are marketed in Croatia:
• Antimicrobial drugs (ciprofloxacin, levofloxacin, doxycycline, a combination of sulfomethoxazole and trimethoprim)
• Medicines for the treatment of allergies, ie antihistamines (diphenhydramine)
• Medicines for the treatment of malignant diseases (5-fluorouracil, dacarbazine)
• Medicines for heart disease (amiodarone, nifedipine, diltiazem, enalapril, ramipril)
• Diuretics (furosemide, hydrochlorothiazide)
• Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (naproxen, piroxicam)
• Acne medications (isotretinoin)
• Medications for depression (amitriptyline)

What is the minimum age for laser hair removal?

The minimum age for laser hair removal is 14 years, but experts still advise a few years later, since in those early teenage years there is a frequent change of hormones in the body and more treatments would be needed for optimal results. Once hormones are regulated (usually between the ages of 17 and 19), treatments are much more effective and lasting.
If you decide to have laser hair removal before the age of 18, for the first visit to the consultation you are kindly asked to come with a parent / legal guardian who would give consent and sign the authorization for you.

How many treatments are needed?

Although the effect of the laser can be seen after the first treatment, for an optimal result on the body it takes an average of 6 to 8 repetitions (at intervals of 2 months) while for the face the number is slightly higher and treatments are done on a monthly basis. After that, maintenance is recommended once a year or as needed (there is a greater chance of less frequent than more frequent need).

Can I do a treatment on an area with moles or a tattoo?

In a case of smaller moles, no precautions are required, while to protect larger ones we use a special concealer pencil or white patch. Tattoos must be covered with a white patch so that they could not attract laser energy as it would damage / fade them.

Is diode laser treatment painless?

The Soprano XL diode laser is recognized by the World Health Organization as the only painless hair removal system.
However, it must not be forgotten that the threshold of pain tolerance is not the same in all people and therefore, although very rarely, it is possible for some individuals to feel a bit of discomfort. To avoid this, we also use a complementary machine, Cryo 6, whose function is to intensively cool the skin in order to eliminate any feeling of discomfort. Also, the potency on the laser is individually adjusted according to the client’s feeling.

What if I am pregnant?

Laser hair removal is generally considered a safe method but no studies have been conducted on the effects of lasers on pregnant women and their babies, due to this lack of research, it is recommended to avoid this procedure for the entire duration of pregnancy.
